In its most basic form, the Church is a family, a community – one that is, in our case rooted in the Christian faith of our ancestors. Accordingly the Church thrives in proportion to the love, commitment, and financial contributions of our community members. Without question, increasing participation in our Stewardship Program and growing our Church Membership are essential to furthering the Mission of St. John Garabed Armenian Church.

STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM

Stewardship is a Christian tradition which asks us to share our financial resources with the church as another opportunity to express our gratitude to God for all his blessings.

All the monies collected through the Stewardship Program are used to support the programs and activities of St. John Garabed. In 2008, almost 100 families and individuals gave generously according to their means. All of us extend our appreciation.

Our goal for 2009 is $60,000 – which accounts for about 20% of our Operating Budget. Please make a pledge today – pledges can be paid on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis.

MEMBERSHIP

All the faithful who have been baptized and chrismated in the Armenian Apostolic Church and who accept its doctrines are members of church. For the administrative purpose of the church, however, official church membership entails certain requirements and privileges. To be considered for membership, you must:

• Be baptized and chrismated in the Armenian Church
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Submit a completed application
• Pay the annual membership dues

Please note the Membership Applications are subject to approval by the Parish Council AND Membership Dues do not contribute to the operating budget of our parish, but, appropriately, go to the Diocese to support the larger mission of the Armenian Church and the Western Diocese.

As a dues paying member, you:

• Express your love of and commitment to the Armenian Church
• Can participate in the governance of the church by voting at the annual Assembly Meeting
• Are eligible to be an officer in the church organizations and/or committees
• Are offered a reduced rate for sacraments / religious services (i.e., baptisms, weddings, and funerals) and for renting the church hall
